Greetings, Fellow Deans and Directors!

At what level is your Field Ed Director appointed: staff, administration, or faculty?  If it is a faculty line, did you bring her/him in at Assist. Prof. level?

Cheers!

Will

Compiled responses from NADD members:

1. Hi Will,

My field director is a Clinical Associate Professor.  This is a 12 month non-tenure track faculty position.

In the past we have had tenured faculty in the position but their research and publication productivity was understandably greatly reduced.  This has been remedied with the use of a non-tenure-able faculty position.

Best regards,

Jack

2. Our field director is a Teaching Assistant Professor. Also a 12 month non-tenure track faculty position.

Ditto on the use of non-tenure track faculty.

Marjorie R. Sable

3. Our field Director, while holding the doctorate, is a twelve month staff position

Sheldon Gelman

4. Will,

Our field director is a Senior Instructor on a nine month contract, with summer per diem pay.

Best,

Dennis Poole

5. Our field director does not have a doctorate and holds a 12 month professional staff position.

Laura R Bronstein

6. We have two full time MSW educated registered social workers.  They are tenured, instructor level faculty and are not eligible for promotion in the ranks without applying in open competition for positions at assistant level or higher.  Also they are on 12 month continuing contract and participate as full members of our academic council. Hope this helps.

7. My field director and an additional five fulltime field personnel are faculty members.  They are non-tenure track Instructors with MSWs and substantial practice experience and all of them teach at least one course per year.

8. Our Field Director is a non-tenure earning, 12-month faculty administrator. We are currently hiring four field faculty, who will be non-tenure earning and 12-month faculty. All field faculty teach one or more courses and serve on faculty governance committees.
